Unemployed People
The AWP have a series of practical ideas to assist people who are unemployed to find worthwhile jobs. The Universal Job Guarantee is our primary employment generating policy but other socio-economic proposals all link into job generation in some way.
However, while people do find themselves without work, we will push for practical, non-punitive way of assisting them without the dehumanisation that seems to be the norm from the major parties. Punishing people because of business failures, government cutbacks or other systemic issues is not only illogical but demeaning and not in line with the Aussie Fair Go.

The AWP also supports the incredible efforts of the Australian Unemployed Workers Union, an organisation that advocates on behalf of unemployed people.

We will advocate for:
- Newstart must be increased to reasonable levels to keep people from becoming homeless and or living in extreme poverty. All Government welfare benefits raised in accordance with the Henderson Poverty Line (More Info Found Here).
- The complete abolition of PTY LTD Employment Services.
- Recommissioning of the Commonwealth Employment Service (CES).
- The complete eradication of punitive measures regarding eligibility for income support payments.
- Termination of Work For The Dole programs and replaced with Universal Job Guarantees.
- End discrimination against welfare recipients across the board.
- Creation of creative work ready programs to compliment Job Guarantee strategy.
- Government protection ready laws for guaranteed minimum wage for new/returning workers.
- Hold existing private sector Employment Services accountable for abuse of power via Independent Commission.
