Experience & energy for the Senate: NSW Senate Candidates Mark Ptolemy & Maria Nguyen:
Maria Nguyen was born and raised in South West Sydney. At 23 years of age, Maria is acutely aware of the many challenges facing people of her generation, such as housing affordability and secure employment. As the daughter of immigrants, she is also aware of the promise that Australia offers; of new beginnings through hard work and determination. Working with people with disabilities by assisting them through the NDIS, Maria is committed to fighting for rights of vulnerable people and to the ideals of true equality. Should she be elected, Maria would be one of Australia's youngest Senators and would be well able to be an effective voice for young Australians.
Mark Ptolemy is a former trade unionist and has had a long career advocating for people with disabilities in NSW. He is also co-founder and leader of the Australian Workers Party. Mark believes that government must exist to serve the people, not the interests of corporations or politicians. He knows that the measure of a society is how it treats it most vulnerable citizens; and that government policy fails when progress stalls and people are left behind. Mark is ready to fight for the disadvantaged and for lower and middle income wage earners. He believes poverty has no place in a nation as wealthy as Australia, that every Federal government should commit to full employment and that the challenges of inequality can be met by compassion and a commitment to real change.

Heading the AWP Senate ticket for Victoria is Narelle Everard:
Passionate about social justice and a “fair go”, Narelle holds degrees in nursing and law; she’s compassionate and smart. Narelle knows the value of public education, having seen the difference this has made to her own life. She understands the issues faced by Victorian workers – because she is one. She knows about juggling work and family - because she has done. She knows about the difficulties faced by casual workers who miss out on superannuation and struggle to get a mortgage because of job instability from lived experience. She knows about the difficulties of working several jobs at once, because she’s been there too. She wants to make Australia a better place for everyone, not just for a privileged few.
Narelle has fought for better and accessible general and mental health services, homelessness services and safe, affordable housing in the city and rural Victoria. She has worked locally for her community, successfully campaigning to reopen a much loved public swimming pool and in the process showing that she can make politicians listen and fund projects that people care about. A member of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation for 30 years, Narelle has spent her career in retail, hospitality, health care, education and the law. Narelle walks the talk of the fair go. Always has, always will.

Our candidate for the Federal electorate of Lyne on the Mid-North Coast of NSW is Ed Caruana:
Ed Caruana is a farmer and small business owner on the mid-north coast of NSW. He is also a devoted father and volunteer in his local community. Ed knows what it's like to have to roll up your sleeves and work hard. A strong unionist, Ed made the decision to join the AWP and to throw his hat into the ring in the Federal Electorate of Lyne because he is worried about the course we are on as a nation. He sees the perils of foreign ownership, of stagnant wages and of the inequality faced by families, especially those in regional areas of Australia. He wants to speak out against the unfairness which is being ignored by the major parties. In his electorate, which has been taken for granted by the National Party, he sees underemployment and unemployment as major issues. On a daily basis he sees the under resourcing of local infrastructure and services. He knows the hardships faced by many families in their pursuit of a better life for their families. Ed is ready to work and ready to listen to the people of Lyne and being no stranger to hard work, he's ready to roll up his sleeves and get to work in Canberra for his community.
